This necklace was worn on the hit Fox TV show "BONES"! It was chosen by the stylist and worn on episode 12 / season 11 of Bones. It is a Chrysalis Studios original design 2015 (c).
I handcraft these unique pendants from a real Morpho Sulkowski butterfly wing paired with a silver-dipped opalite crystal point! The top portion of this double pendant is made from a real Morpho Sulkowski butterfly wing embedded under magnified glass and set in antique silver. (Please read below for more on how I ethically obtain the butterfly wings!) The entire pendant measures approx. 2.5" long x 1.2" wide.Your choice of short 18" chain or long 30" chain in your choice of regular silver tone metal or an upgrade to .925 Sterling Silver.
This Chrysalis Studios original design was chosen by the stylist and worn on the TV show "BONES", starring Emily Deschanel! (Season 11 / Episode 12)
The Morpho Sulkowski, also known as the "Pearl Morpho" or the "Holograph Morpho" is a rare species of butterfly in the Morpho family known for its opal-like sheen and iridescence! This butterfly is from Peru and its wings shimmer in shades of white to lavender to light blue to yellow depending on how the light hits them! The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly. Each necklace will come in an organza gift bag with literature on the species of butterfly!
*NOTE* No Butterflies are harmed in the making of my jewelry! All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops. A portion of my profits are donated to the Rainforest Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the Rainforest and the many species that live within it, including the Blue Morpho Butterfly!
